Music Composition Apps
Notate Me is an app where the user may use an ipad stylist to draw notes on a staff in the same way one would write music on sheet music. The app takes the hand drawn note and makes an electronic version which can be played back for the user to hear. Compositions can also be saved on the app. There is both a free and costly upgrade.
Mix Up Studio works as a good beginner tool for creating electronic music. The app features pre-recorded drum beats for the user to select from. They then can choose two pre-recorded instrument choices to create a composition. The user simply clicks on the notes they want the instruments to play and may be played back for them to hear their work. This is a free app.

Like Mix Up Studio and Pattern Music, Sound Prism using a sound grid to create chords and melodies. The app is based on colour coded patterns that includes chords and notes in certain keys meaning that suitably combinations can be created within the key. Users can grab one note at a time or several all at once to create different parts and sounds in their composition. There is both a free and costly upgrade.
Pattern Music allows the user to loop patterns and music using a variety of different instruments or sounds. The loops are recorded using a sound grid (similar to Mix Up Studio) and can be mixed with other created loops.
